Believe It Or Not, You Can Ask Facebook To Delete Your Personal Information

Meta, the parent company behind Facebook, introduced an automatic tool allowing non-Meta services users to check if their personal information exists on the company’s servers. If so, Meta will enable these non-users to submit delete and block requests, removing and blocking their data from being saved in the future, respectively. Interestingly, Meta users can also use this tool.

Non-Meta users – internet users that don’t belong to Facebook, Messenger, or Instagram – can use the tool to submit requests regarding email addresses, mobile phone numbers, and landline phone numbers.

Meta did not elaborate on how their deletion and blocking features functioned.

You can check out the tool here: https://www.facebook.com/contacts/removal

Read the company’s explanation below if you’re wondering how Meta may have your information.

“Someone may have uploaded their address book to Facebook, Messenger, or Instagram with your contact information. You can ask us to confirm whether we have your phone number or email address.

If we do, you can request that we delete it from our address book database. We need to keep a copy in our block list to prevent it from being uploaded to this database again through someone’s address book.

If you’d like us to delete and block more than one type of contact information, we need to confirm each separately.”
