The 2022 midterm elections are today. In an effort to entice people to get out and vote, businesses are offering free food and additional deals. Poll workers, take note!
Doughnuts
You can expect a free glazed donut from Krispy Kreme on Tuesday.
Global Chief Brand Officer, David Skena, proudly stated that “A healthy, vibrant democracy depends on engaged citizens who vote… “We’re happy to celebrate voters and our democracy by giving everyone a free Original Glazed doughnut on Election Day.”

This follows Krispy Kreme’s dedication of giving away free donuts that support upstanding causes. Last year, the donut chain gave away free donuts to those vaccinated against Covid-19.
Pizza
Founded in 2016, organization Pizza to the Polls started delivering pizzas to voters waiting in line at the polls. Their website reads, “The feedback was immediate and immense: it fortified hungry voters in line, cheered up beleaguered poll workers and gave people a way to help out their communities.”
There’s no guarantee on this perk, but you may get lucky. In 2020, 30,000 donors raised $1.5 million to purchase over 70,000 pizzas that were delivered and handed out at 3,000 polling sites across 48 states.

Transportation
Ride-share company Lyft is providing customers 50% off their rides (up to $10) when they use the discount code VOTE22. The offer is valid while polls are open and available on bikes, scooters, and cars. The company said in a statement, “We believe that everyone’s voice — and vote — deserves to be heard, and transportation should never be a barrier.”
Competitor Uber is offering free to-and-from rides to poll workers that signed up through the Power the Polls website. Workers that had signed up were sent voucher codes last week that could be redeemed in the app.
