Macy’s is continuing its promise to promote historically disadvantaged entrepreneurs with the introduction of its S.P.U.R. Pathways program. Invited participants will learn everything from business planning and financial reporting to credit improvement.

The initiative builds upon earlier work done through “The Workshop at Macy’s.” This is yet another company program meant to uplift disadvantaged entrepreneurs, particularly female, LGBTQ+, veteran, and vendors of color-owned businesses.
“As part of our social purpose platform, Mission Every One, this investment will provide access to capital resources that will advance the next generation of brands and service providers,” mentioned Jeff Gennette, chairman and C.E.O. of Macy’s, Inc..
“By investing in high-growth underrepresented businesses at all stages of growth, we intend to create meaningful economic impact within our communities, while serving our customers.”

Earlier in the year, Macy’s revealed plans to spend $5 billion by 2025 on social and environmental causes. Through this commitment, Macy’s will increase hourly pay for department store employees, introduce more people from underrepresented backgrounds into leadership positions, and enhance the company’s overall product offering of items made from sustainable materials.
